Seen Family Eyecare was founded with the vision to be more than just a place for your eye care needs.
With over two decades of experience and education in his field, Dr. Bittar felt compelled to open doors to SEEN in 2023. His goal was to create an eye center where patients felt seen and taken care of in a personalized, skilled and patient-centered environment. Dr. Bittar firmly believes in the value of face-to-face eye exams and the importance of making sure that patients can be seen in a timely manner.
As a privately-owned, family run business, SEEN's mission is to be an eye practice where patients can come in and feel like family. While comprehensive, experienced eye care is certainly at the forefront of SEEN, Dr. Bittar genuinely enjoys getting to know each of his patients, tailoring their eye care to their personal and professional needs. Helping them see their best by preventing or managing eye diseases with the help of modern equipment, carefully selected eye wear and eye care products and a wide range of services is what he strives for.

Dr. Bittar
Dr. Bittar is passionate about making a difference in his patients' life. His genuine desire to care for people’s vision and overall eye health started early on, after seeing his grandmother's struggle with macular degeneration.
Born and raised on the Caribbean Island of Antigua, Dr. Bittar left his childhood home at the young age of 17 to start his educational journey at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with honors. He then went on to pursue his medical training at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, PA, graduating with honors in 2005.
Dr. Bittar has completed a rigid educational program. He finished clinical rotations in acute post-operative care of cataract, retina and glaucoma at the Eye Center of South Florida in Miami as well as both pediatric and low vision specialty rotations at the Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. Besides clinical training in private practice where he focused on simple and complex contact lens fitting and general eye care, Dr. Bittar also cared for our nation's veterans at the Newington VA Medical Center in Connecticut.
Dr. Bittar moved to Hampton Roads in 2005 where he has been practicing and serving patients in the area of comprehensive and pediatric optometry, glaucoma, dry eyes and general disease treatment as well as contact lens fitting. Dr. Bittar puts great emphasis on staying current with the latest innovations and treatments in his field through continued education programs, completing his laser certification course in 2023. He is a proud member of the Virginia Optometric Association (VOA).
But it's not just about expertise and continued education for Dr. Bittar - it is about serving the Hampton Roads community. With SEEN, Dr. Bittar has taken a new direction in his career, wanting to ensure that all his patients continue to receive the quality and level of personalized care they have become accustomed to. To quote his philosophy on patient care: “I care for every patient as I would care for a loved one, providing them with the best quality eye care to ultimately enhance their quality of life”.
Dr. Bittar lives with his wife and three children in Newport News, VA. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and friends, especially playing soccer with his children and sharing his passion of fishing, gardening and grilling. Dr. Bittar also enjoys giving back to the community. As an active member of a church community, he has volunteered at different organizations within Hampton Roads as well as the Portsmouth Naval Hospital and a local high school, where he educated students on the profession of optometry and the importance of eye health.

Dr. Bittar's vision for SEEN was to assemble more than just a group of professionals - he set out to find a team that wants to make a difference in their patients' lives.
Dr. Bittar quickly knew that SEEN would be a "family business". While he is focused on delivering exceptional medical care, his wife Yasmin has teamed up with him to oversee the administrative aspects of SEEN. She is joined by seasoned opticians Dora and Kim, who each have decades of optical experience under their belt.
